The BIG LEAP Project showcased at the EDF R&D European Projects Seminar
The BIG LEAP Project was showcased a few week ago at the EDF R&D European Projects Seminar 2024. Emeric Brun, from EDF, delivered a presentation on second-life batteries. EDF is the leading producer and supplier of electricity in France and Europe, owned 80% by the French state. EDF leads Work Package 7 at the BIG LEAP Project and the French demo site.
Emeric presented the project’s objectives and presented the importance in repurposing retired EV batteries for grid applications. The project aims to develop interoperable and adaptable Battery Management Systems, enhance diagnosis and prognosis capabilities, and prioritize standardization and environmental assessments. With two physical and one virtual demonstrators, the project seeks to make a tangible impact at the European level, covering the way for second-life batteries.
