Bigleap2025-07-28T06:58:42+00:00The BIG LEAP project was presented at the 2nd edition of the High-Level Managerial Training Course on Renewable Energy and the Energy Transition, which took place from 30 June to 10 July 2025 at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in Morocco.
This prestigious course, organised by RES4Africa Foundation, UM6P, and the Enel Foundation, brought together international experts, energy professionals, and policymakers to discuss the latest trends and challenges in renewable energy and grid transformation.
On 3 July, during the plenary session “R&D in battery storage systems: results of BIG LEAP and HAVEN EU Horizon projects”, RES4Africa introduced the BIG LEAP project and its groundbreaking research.
The session highlighted the project’s efforts to:
- Enhance Battery Management System (BMS) interoperability to improve the performance and safety of energy storage solutions;
- Advance the reliability and efficiency of second-life batteries, fostering circular approaches in energy storage;
- Support the EU’s technological competitiveness through innovative methods for battery testing, monitoring, and standardisation.
By participating in this event, BIG LEAP engaged with stakeholders from both Europe and Africa, opening the door for future cooperation in scaling up renewable energy integration and energy storage solutions.
About the Event
The training programme featured technical sessions on solar and wind energy, grid digitalisation, hydrogen technologies, and energy storage systems. Participants also took part in a technical visit to the 281 MW Jbel Lahdid Wind Plant (Essaouira Province) and engaged in policy-focused discussions on regulatory frameworks, energy finance, and inclusive transition strategies.
The presentation of BIG LEAP reinforced the project’s commitment to knowledge dissemination and global collaboration, ensuring that its innovations in battery technology reach a diverse and international audience.
