BIG LEAP Project Highlights Battery Interoperability at OFF-GRID Expo + Conference 2025
Bigleap2025-11-13T15:31:11+00:00The BIG LEAP project participated in the OFF-GRID Expo + Conference 2025 in Augsburg, Germany, on 30–31 October. This renowned event served as a key European platform for decentralized and off-grid energy solutions, uniting around 900 participants from across the renewable energy, storage, and development sectors.
BIG LEAP presented its advances in enhancing Battery Management System (BMS) interoperability and improving the reliability of Second-Life Battery Energy Storage Systems (SL-BESS). These innovations are essential to ensure efficient battery reuse and circular economy integration across off-grid and decentralized energy markets.
The event, aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 6, 7, 8, 12, and 13), provided a unique opportunity to showcase how BIG LEAP’s open communication framework and digital tools contribute to safe, reliable, and affordable energy access. The project’s approach to second-life battery standardization and predictive maintenance was particularly well-received by experts from Africa, Europe, and Asia.
Throughout the conference, BIG LEAP engaged in networking sessions, workshops, and discussions addressing off-grid financing, mini-grid technologies, and energy access in emerging markets. The team also explored synergies with other EU-funded initiatives working on circular battery systems and renewable integration.
Participation in the OFF-GRID Expo + Conference 2025 reinforced BIG LEAP’s mission to accelerate Europe’s transition to sustainable battery systems, boost technological competitiveness, and support global clean energy access.
